Frequently Asked Questions
What insurance do I actually need in my 20s?
At minimum: health insurance, car insurance if you drive (it is legally required), and renters insurance if you rent (it is cheap and covers your belongings and liability). Add life insurance once someone depends on your income, and disability insurance if you would struggle without your paycheck.
Do I need life insurance if I'm single with no kids?
Usually not. Life insurance replaces your income for people who depend on it. The exception is if someone co-signed your private student loans or you want to lock in low rates while young and healthy.
Are these prices accurate for the UK or Canada?
No. These are typical US prices. The UK and Canada have public healthcare, so you usually will not need health insurance, and car insurance prices differ a lot. Use the list as a checklist of what to consider, then get local quotes.
